Associated Counseling Professionals
2255 S. 132 St., STE 200 - Omaha, NE
I like to solve problems with creativity, with your unique
needs in mind.
I received my MSW from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1980.
I have advanced training in Clinical Hypnosis - using this tool for habit
control, pain management, personal growth and psychotherapy.
My work typically often includes individuals and families dealing with
the emotional impact of chronic or life-threatening illness. I assist
people with Stress, Self-Esteem, Affairs, Relationships, Depression and
Anxiety - including phobias, fears, and excessive worry. I have a special
interest and advanced training in the treatment of Obsessive
Compulsive Disorder.
Additionally, I enjoy the opportunity to help couples with relationship
concerns. Every stage of a relationship brings its own set of excitement
and challenges. Terry takes an action-oriented and collaborative
approach to relationships.

I'm proud of my affiliation with Associated Counseling Professionals, PC. We opened our business in
1993, and have discovered a lot about the art and science of running a small business. Whew!
Previously, I worked in at Children's Hospital, the child & adolescent psychiatric unit at Midlands
Community Hospital - in the days before they became part of Alegent Health, and the community
mental health center in Kearney, NE.
I grew up near Chicago, Illinois, but Nebraska has been my home for nearly 40 years. I earned my
Master of Social Work degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in 1980. My BA in
Psychology and Sociology [1977] came from Creighton University.
Hypnosis
My specialty is clinical hypnosis. I've been studying and using this fascinating tool since 1982. I find
that it has wide application, and brings satisfying results. It has the potential of assisting with stress &
anxiety [phobias, too], depression & self-esteem issues, along with pain management, and habit
control. Since 1997, I have held the title of Certified & Approved Consultant in Clinical Hypnosis. This
allows me to supervise other mental health professionals who also want certification from the
American Society of Clinical Hypnosis.
To say that there are misconceptions about hypnosis is a substantial understatement. Most of what
you will find on the Internet is unregulated & unsubstantiated bunk. Please -- call with you questions
before you schedule a time to come in. I am always happy to answer your questions.
- Can I be hypnotised?
- Will it help with my particular problem or concern?
- How soon will I get results?
Check out our questions about hypnosis page for additional information.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
OCD is a tricky problem to solve, for a number of reasons. It is tricky because, in the short run, it is
tantalizingly easy to just give in to obsessions, do the compulsive behavior, and hope it won't come
back.
The problem is that it always does. OCD is persistent, and can be tremendously disruptive to one's
life. It can invade work, relationships -- and often leads to deep depression. The good news is that
there are treatment strategies that help. Sometimes that includes medication; behavioral therapy is
always part of the plan. If you need more information, start here.

Community Involvement
I've been active in my professional organization -- the National Association of Social Workers. Having
previously held several regional and committee appointments, I was elected President of the
Nebraska Chapter for 1997 through 1999. I currently serve on the Chapter's Ethics Committee.
I also serve on the board of the Association for Private Practice Therapists in the role of Board
Secretary.
I am very interested in the use of technology.. I am responsible for the purchase and upkeep of all the
computers our office, and try to stay up with the latest trends. I also maintain this website.
