Maureen Gatere, DNP, APRN

 

Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner

 

Dr. Gatere received her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree from UNMC College of Nursing and her Bachelor  of Nursing degree from Nebraska Methodist College. She also holds a Master of Public Health degree from UNMC, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Northwest Missouri State University. 

Dr. Gatere treats depression, anxiety, thought process, stress, and focus and concentration disorders. She enjoys working with a diverse group of patients to include military personnel and families,  immigrants and refugees. She also enjoys working with moms during the pre-conception, pregnancy  and post-natal periods.

In addition to medication management, she advises patients on protective factors that promote mental health and wellness. She loves working in collaboration with other providers for  optimal patient outcomes. 

Before becoming a nurse practitioner, Dr. Gatere worked as a cardiac and psychiatric registered nurse. In  her previous public health career, she focused on improving maternal and child health outcomes in  underserved communities, and provided community health education. 

Outside of the clinic, Dr. Gatere is a Clinical Assistant Professor at UNMC’s College of Nursing. She is also a Captain in the US Air Force at the Joint Reserve Base in Fort Worth, Texas. She is a member of the  American Psychiatric Nurses Association.
