Are you struggling with a major life change or transition, such as becoming a new parent, dealing with a major medical diagnosis, coping with the loss of a loved one, or ending a significant relationship? You might feel like you’re in a constant state of worry, struggling to cope, and unsure of where to turn. Despite your best efforts to seek support and help, nothing seems to work. In the past you may have always been able to logically solve your problems but now it seems like you can’t stop worrying or crying. Maybe this is the first time you’ve considered finding someone to talk to or maybe you’ve been considering it for a while.

With 15+ years’ professional experience working with growing families, and advanced training in perinatal mental health, interpersonal psychotherapy, and Brainspotting, I have the educational foundation to assist you. However, you are the expert in your life, and together we will clarify your struggles, set clear goals and identify unique plans to increase coping and reduce distress. Even if the change you are struggling with happened a long time ago, healing is still possible. Whether you want to talk through your emotions or develop practical strategies for moving forward, I am here to help you achieve the goals that matter to you.

Certification in Perinatal Mental Health (PMH-C)

Postpartum Support International offers specialization in perinatal mental health with advanced training and professional certification. The Perinatal Mental Health Certification distinction demonstrates advanced training and expertise in working with the perinatal population. To become certified, a professional has to complete a 14-hour Perinatal Mood and Anxiety Certificate course plus an additional 6 hours of specialty training. The final step is to pass a certification exam. To maintain the certification, 12 hours continuing education in perinatal mental health is required. I have held the certification in perinatal mental health since 2020.

Professional Postpartum Doula

I have worked as a professional postpartum doula since 2016. Postpartum doulas are trained professionals that provide prenatal education, postpartum preparation support, and in-home postpartum care and support. Postpartum doulas provide a variety of services including support and education for infant feeding and soothing, newborn care and education, postpartum healing and recovery guidance and support for new parents, and hands-on direct care to reduce new parent burden. In addition, to my work with new families during the early postpartum period, I also offer an in-depth new parent education course, New Parent Essentials. In this 3-class series, expectant parents will learn about newborn states of alertness, infant sleep, soothing, healing, perinatal mental health care, childbirth trauma recovery, ways to optimize healing and recovery through nutrition, and a personalized postpartum plan.
