Maida earned her Master of Social Work and Master of Public Administration in 2020 at UNO. Her previous education also includes a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from UNO in 2011. Maida has been a mental health therapist for three years. She has previous experience working with individuals through mental health services in outpatient and day treatment settings as well as in residential disability rehabilitation centers. Maida is also currently providing mental health services to college students at a campus-based, outpatient counseling center.
In line with her social work training, Maida is passionate about serving diverse populations using a strengths-based approach with multiple intervention strategies including cognitive behavioral therapy and narrative therapy. She is particularly interested in serving immigrant populations, current and future healthcare and human service workers, as well as individuals experiencing chronic health conditions and disabilities. Maida also has advanced skills & experience in suicide prevention on both the individual & community level.
In her free time, Maida enjoys the outdoors, especially warm weather activities such as swimming and long walks, live concerts, musicals, and practicing yoga. She also loves dogs and feels passionate about their therapeutic potential in people’s lives. Maida is an immigrant from Bosnia and enjoys learning about and spending time with diverse immigrant communities in the Omaha area.
